Oklahoma Weekly O&G Report - 01/16/18

Welcome back to our weekly reports, everybody! With oil hovering above the $64/bbl mark, 2018 is already off to a great start.

Here are some highlights from this week’s report:

  • In 2017, the SCOOP was one of the hottest areas in terms of leasing, so it’s no surprise to see it start strong as we enter in the new year.
  • Other leasing highlights:
    • Continental continues to be the most active operator in Oklahoma on the leasing front.
    • WSGP Gas Producing has seen a spike in leasing activity since last week.
  • Trinity Operating has increased their number of poolings in the 7 days; we will be interested to see if this trend continues in the coming weeks.
  • Derrick Resources and Kirkpatrick Oil demonstrated a sharp increase in transfer activity over the past 30 days, and we’ll want to watch their activity to see if they are making any more moves in the coming months, especially if oil stays above $60/bbl.
  • Finally, Oklahoma Energy Acquisitions has seen a large number of Location Exceptions filed in the last week – look for lots of drilling from them soon.
