Texas Weekly Report - 06/19/2018

Texas Intents to Drill

  • Burlington Resources, operating as a subsidiary of Conoco, has been ramping up activity in the Eagle Ford. We saw a more than 50% increase in their activity during April and May, and we expect this trend to continue in June.

  • EOG and Conoco are both shifting focus to the Austin Chalk formation. Expect Conoco to increase activity in the third and fourth quarters if their planned wells are successful.

Texas Frac Jobs

  • Since 2017, ConocoPhillips has mainly used three different proppant types in their frac jobs in the Eagle Ford: Crystalline Silica, Silica Quartz, and Silicon Dioxide. Using OseFrac, we were able to determine the average pounds of proppant per foot of each type used in their Eagle Ford fracs.

  • This graph shows us that Conoco has been making an interesting shift from the amount of Proppant used to the type of proppant used.
  • The next question: why has Conoco made this shift and how does their proppant usage compare to EOG and other operators in the Eagle Ford? (Stay tuned for the answer!)
